Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 years since the original Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a major film company and bringing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Toys
The preview shows Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a latest plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser avoids is why Woody is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys find good homes.
Surely, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the badge attached to her shirt.
Hopefully she is still the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
