Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
Lando Norris has outscored his teammate at all of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the closing stages of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the championship lead from Piastri by a single point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, outpaced the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before the sprint shootout set to begin at the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the championship fight, sitting with a 36-point deficit Norris, was classified in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he lost control at the fourth corner during the early running.
The Japanese lost control over the exit kerbs before rotating through the run-off area, and was lucky to avoid just a light touch of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the very end of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho turn leading to the final bend on to the pit straight.
Hamilton ended the session in 19th, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber P3, 0.619 seconds off the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
