“It was regrettable. It was essentially an interaction with our fans seated near me,” Jones explained during a Tuesday interview. “There was a large group of Cowboys fans—not New York fans, Cowboys fans. The entire stadium was brimming with excitement for the Dallas team.”
He further emphasized that the signal was entirely accidental, occurring amid the elation following the team’s final touchdown. “I simply put up the incorrect finger,” he remarked. “The action was inadvertently performed. This is sincere. If you want to call it accidental, you can. However, it got resolved pretty quick.”
